In case the extension cannot figure out the physical directory corresponding to the item selected in the Solution Explorer it will fall back to the solution directory, then to the Default Working Directory option value and finally to your Windows home folder. Total Commander will also place its cursor over the file which is active in Solution Explorer and/or the file pointed to by any of the Specific Path settings: Now when you click the Total Commander command in Visual Studio, the Total Commander application will launch (if it wasn't already running), load your Solution Explorer selected directory in the left panel (and activate it) and your C:\Users in the right panel. The settings are pretty self-explanatory so let's examine an example and assume you've configured something like this: Open the Visual Studio Options window and find the Total Commander Launcher section. Now you can install this extension and have Visual Studio launch Total Commander for you. Let’s assume you’ve already installed Total Commander application. Options allow for configuring Total Commander panels and tabs. It is only visible when a solution or project is open. 
The command is added to the Solution Explorer context menu, Solution Explorer toolbar and the Tools main menu.
This extension adds a command to launch Total Commander and feed its panel(s) with the location of the currently selected Solution Explorer item. It's got a lot of features, it is highly customizable and may an is being extended with the plug-ins by its great community. Total Commander is a great Windows Explorer replacement optimized for speed and productivity.
